We can tell it won’t be ideal for every hip and waist size, so the belt clasp can get lost in the built-in belt sleeve, or you might have a hard time clasping the belt closed if you need to cinch in. Once you dial in the belt fit, they are comfortable for all-day wear. Plus, they look stylish for around-town use, so these versatile shorts are handy if you want to throw a sweatshirt over and pass for outdoor chic. We did not find that they chafed after getting wet and sweaty, which is a huge plus. The legs of the shorts are designed to be wide around your body, so there is barely any rubbing, and the fabric is soft against the skin.

Durability

These shorts can take on any rough-and-tumble trail! We tested the Ferrosi’s fabric by rubbing it against rocks, trees, and thick brush during multiple hikes each week. Despite the rough treatment, they didn’t tear, pill, or show any signs of wear. After sitting and scooting on rough terrain, the fabric still looked nearly new, which makes them ideal for more rugged adventures. We also ran them through the wash several times, and the fit and material held up perfectly, so they’re definitely built to last. We noticed the shorts packed down fairly well for a multi-day trip, but they could have been even more compact without the belt. The fabric also has a nice balance between being thin but not flimsy, which helps them feel light but still durable.
