My girlfriend Annie and I leave on an epic road trip to the great state of Colorado tomorrow! We’ll be driving from Portland to Boulder over the next two days. We have two weddings in Boulder that are separated by about twelve days. We’ll be spending those twelve days in the Rocky Mountains hiking the Collegiate Loop trail!
We’re both really excited about backpacking along the continental divide and I can’t wait to write up a full trip report when we get back. The total loop is about 160 miles and we’re planning to hike around 14 miles a day. The weather looks like it will be sunny with scattered thunderstorms, which is pretty common for Colorado I’m told. Most of our hike will be above 10,000 feet, which could be tough for us Portlanders. Portland’s elevation is listed at 50 feet above sea level. Yikes! Still, we’re itching for a high elevation adventure and we’re ready for some beautiful Rocky views! I hope to post some updates and photos along the way, but things around the CleverHiker blog are likely to be a bit quiet until the beginning of August when I get back. I’ll try to post short blog updates, Facebook posts, and Tweets as the trip progresses.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful summer!
Take care and talk soon,
Dave
